Stats are the core attributes of your character. Many, many things depend on what your stats are. Stats range from 1 to 275 although stat buffs can take them higher than 275. You gain 5-7 stats per level through level 129 and starting at level 130 you gain 75 stats per level. The cost of stats caps at 2 billion xp per stat at 232. Stats can be reset, but costs experience equal to the total spent on your highest stat (score stats
can show you this total).

The actual effects of stats can vary dramatically depending your guild and subguild. It's better to check before assuming these will all apply to you. However, this is a general list of the mud-side effects of each stat:
- Strength affects how much you can carry, how encumbered you are by a given carrying weight, and how hard your melee hits are.
- Constitution determines your total hit points, how fast you sober up after drinking alcohol, and resistance to certain poisons.
- Intelligence determines your total spell points.
- Wisdom affects how much damage melee hits can do.
- Dexterity affects how often your melee hits land and how often you dodge incoming hits.
- Charisma affects selling prices at shops and whether some mobs are aggressive towards you.
