THIS PAGE IS NEW AND IN-PROGRESS
3 Kingdoms offers a wide variety of chatlines and each has their own customs, audience, and restrictions. There's really no way to screw up right off the bat, but don't be surprised if someone does mention that a particular topic or application might be better suited for a different line. Most folks aren't trying to gatekeep or anything like that but are offering better alternatives.
General[]
The chatlines command will show you all the current lines you're connected to, the ANSI variables to color them (help aset for details), the number of people also connected to it, and the command to use it. There will likely be a lot of lines you may not have even heard of or ever seen used, and that's fine. We'll walk through the important ones here.
For virtually all chatlines on 3k, you're expected to be reasonable....DO GENERAL RULES HERE
In general, chatlines all share a similar format for the commands. For the sake of example, we'll pretend that "wibble" is a command to chat on a line.
- "wibble Hello world!" will send "Hello world! to that chatline.
- "wibble -?" will show a list of options for that chatline.
- "wibble -h" will show a default history for a line
- "wibble -h #" will show the last # chats on a line
- "wibble -w" will show who is listening to that line
- "wibble -b" will toggle blocking of that line. NOTE: Be careful of which lines you block since you will hear *NOTHING* from that line until you manually unblock it.
Newbie[]
The newbie line is where you're going to ask all your questions for a good chunk of your journey to learn about 3-Kingdoms. The command is newb. General questions about the MUD and how to figure things out should be asked here. At a matter of etiquette, joking and riffing should be taken to a different channel. Questions and answers on this line should be accurate and on topic. For experienced players, keep in mind that new players shouldn't be overwhelmed with too much information not directly related to their question and further discussion should be moved to a different channel.
If you have a question about the MUD and don't know where/who to ask, ask on newb.
